In this sculpture, God is shown as the Holy Spirit, blowing down. He holds a torch with His right hand, and a scroll with the words: Do as I will my child.
At the bottom, is a person kneeling in prayer, with head bowed down, in front of a Baptismal font with the Holy Spirit. The person is encircled by angels. He is dressed in gold, and the floor is full of glitters, as if the scene is bathed in glorious light.
It is in Baptism that we become the children of God. This is a Baptism scene, rich in symbolism of which it’s meanings I know this description does not fully capture:
The Baptismal font, symbolizes the cleansing of sins and a new life (waters of life).
God blowing to symbolize the breath of life and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The torch (like the
Baptismal candle),
symbolizing purification,
enlightenment (wisdom),
and going henceforth to be
the light of the world.
carrying the torch of God.
The baptized person dressed in gold. On the forehead is written to word ONE to symbolize being a holy child of God - “God and I are ONE”
